Playing Possums

Sea Shanty is a rollicking piece in the tradition of the working chants sung by sailors in days gone by.

It calls for quick finger placement on successive notes as well as first finger hop between strings.

The main theme is a series of short fragments shared between upper and lower strings, with dynamics adding colour and contrast.

The final section reaches a climax and is written in 4 independent parts for all instruments.
